It was an "aha" moment. I needed to get olives out of one of those excessively large Costco olive jars. A fork wasn't working. Couldn't get my hand past the neck of the jar. Straining seemed like too much work.
That's when I spotted the unused pasta tool thingy. Problem solved. And it's not only for olives and pasta. Since then I've used it to get artichokes, pickles and sundried tomatoes out of those great big jars.
