Butter Lamb for Easter

It's Ukrainian Easter this weekend. One of the highlights is the blessing of the Easter baskets. Because the grandkids are going with us this year - for the first time - I thought it would be fun to make the butter into the shape of a lamb for them.

I don't do it every year, so I was having trouble remembering what to do. I dug out my 2009 issue of Solovei magazine, and I was off to the races. I don't know what I did with the original pictures,
but thought I'd put the page from the magazine in the blog, so if you're inclined to turn your butter into little butter sculptures, this would be a place to start.

As someone famous once said, just carve away the bits of the butter that aren't the lamb. Then I used a garlic press to create the "wool" and a toothpick/skewer to place it on the lamb.
