Freezing Tomatoes

It's almost time for tomatoes to be cheap at the stores and plentiful in the garden.

Seeing Cyndee's bumper tomato crop pictures reminded me about a great way to preserve tomatoes for making winter sauces and stews.

Get the tomatoes.
Wash them.
Core them, if you want to - but you don't have to.
Put them in a freezer bag and pop them in the freezer.

In the winter pull them out of the freezer.  The skins will come off easily as they thaw but you can leave them on for sauces. They're perfect in a slow cooker.

Way easier than blanching and canning.
